About the Course

This is an intermediate to expert level course designed to cover relatively complex topics of pharmacy benefit management in order to provide the student with adequate foundational knowledge required for higher-level evaluation of RFPs, contracts, and overall PBM performance with emphasis on cost effectiveness. To that end, the following specific learning objectives will be achieved.

The PBIA PBM Procurement course brings all of this knowledge to one place and allows you to get the information you need through an online course. The course provides up to five hours of continuing education* and can be used as an elective for the Certified Pharmacy Benefits Specialist® (CPBS®) designation..

  • Identify savings opportunities by developing visibility into the direct and indirect drug spend.
  • Expand awareness of the importance of PBM procurement and its influence on the bottom line.
  • Facilitate sourcing performance, reduce maverick spend, increase compliance and generate savings.
  • Explain the features and benefits of Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Reverse Auctions.
  • Explain the pros and cons of the various pricing arrangements: spread, pass-through and fiduciary.
Continuing Education Credits

The PBM Procurement Certificate course has been filed for continuing education credits in all 50 states. Please check your state’s CE approval status and rules prior to purchasing the course.

SHRM Credits

HRCI Credits
The use of the HRCI seal confirms that this activity has met HR Certification Institute’s® (HRCI®) criteria for recertification credit pre-approval.
Online Cost

The cost of the PBM Procurement Certificate course is $525 for members and $595 for non-members (refund policy and privacy policy), which includes online instruction, a final exam and continuing education credits. Upon completion, the student will receive a certificate of completion for PBM Procurement. Discounts are offered to PBIA Corporate Partners and company groups over 25.
